Local Education Opportunities

The New Mexico Building Branch, AGC is committed to assisting our members, and the commercial construction community at large, with the education and training needs of our employees.

In 2006, we will focus on delivering meaningful seminars and short courses, and on advocating the kind of college and continuing education programs that deliver quality education and training to the employees already in your company.

AGC Education Committee

The topics addressed by this committee pertain most directly to the education and lifelong learning needs of construction professionals working for General Contractor, Specialty Contractor and Affiliate (Service/Supplier) member firms.

The committee determines AGC’s Education Calendar for the year. New programs are always in the works and if you see a topic missing from those already scheduled…consider participating on our Education Committee, or contact the Workforce Development Director, and share your training needs with us. The committee meets the first Wednesday of each month at 4:00 p.m. in the AGC conference room. New members and visitors are always welcome.

The Education Committee also offers guidance and feedback for construction-related programs in colleges and universities in New Mexico. There are a number of ways to utilize post-secondary courses for developing your personnel and they don’t necessarily require pursuing a degree! For example, the Construction Advancement Institute offers a Construction Supervisor Certificate through a series of 10 courses that provide jobsite supervisors with the essential skills for leadership in their roles. The courses can be taken live or online.
