Lead in Drinking Water Act - new federal regulation

The federal “Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act” was enacted on January 4, 2011.  The Act established an effective date of January 4, 2014. This law reduces the permissible levels of lead in wetted surfaces of faucets, pipes and pipe fittings to 0.25% from the previous national standard of 8.0% maximum.  This applies to entire potable water systems.  Here in NM, our valued partner, the Mechanical Contractors Association of New Mexico, Inc. has compiled an impressive body of information on this new requirement.
from the research conducted by the MCA team which also includes pertinent information from NIBCO and Oatey.  Steve Crespin, Executive Director, Mechanical Contractors Association of NM has volunteered as a point of contact for any AGC member needing additional information.
