Construction Industries Commission Action on Energy Building Codes

AGC Members,

On Friday, June 10, the New Mexico Construction Industries Commission adopted the 2009 International Energy Conservation Codes. This action supersedes the "enhanced" 2009 energy codes adopted in 2010 by the CIC, under the last gubernatorial administration, and set to take effect on July 1.  For your review, here is the New Mexico Regulation & Licensing Department's media release outlining the action, as well as a copy of the letter that AGC submitted as part of the public comment process on June 2. The AGC letter was discussed and vetted by our new AGC Public Policy Committee.

Many of you may have followed the considerable amount of debate and maneuvering around this issue, both in the general media and within our industry, and right up to this past Friday's CIC meeting. We will remain engaged in the discussion and keep you posted about further developments. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or comments.

Many thanks.

Mike
