Safety Alert---JLG Bolts: Two JLG 860SJ aerial lifts in the northwest United States were found with sheared bolts in the swivel area. The bolts were concealed with a cover plate making them difficult to discover in daily inspections.
Recommended action for contractors is to have maintenance personnel or vendor remove the cover plate of any JLG’s on site and inspect in accordance with the manufacturer’s maintenance manual to determine if there any sheared, corroded, or damaged bolts. If there are problems, the JLG should be taken out of service and the vendor or manufacturer contacted to arrange replacement and proper maintenance. Download a PDF with further information.
